Subject: Coronavirus (COVID-19)
The health and safety of our community is our highest priority. As we are all well aware, the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, continues to spread and while there are limited, identi fied cases in Orange County as of this date, there is much news and rightful concern. Local cities, including its Police and Fire Departments, adhere to policies and guidance from the Orange County Health Care Agency, as the lead agency, as well as the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Altogether, the federal, state, and county health care agencies are providing daily information about COVID-19. We urge members to continue relying upon these recommendations and the professional expertise of the various health agencies during this health emergency.
At this time, no Fullerton city events, programs, or services are interrupted due to COVID-19 concerns. However, the city will continue to monitor the overall situation and make the appropriate decision regarding each event, program, or service to ensure the health and safety of participants.
At City Hall and City facilities, Staff have been directed to increase the frequency of sanitizing public counters and areas of frequent public contact (i.e., door handles, elevator buttons). This also includes an increase in the cleaning of City facilities such as restrooms at parks and sports fields. Signage is being developed to stress the important of increased hygiene which will be posted at all public facilities and as a way to help educate the public on COVID-19 and best health practices.
Fullerton city has created a specific web page for information that is based off factual information and guidance from the Orange County Health Care Agency and CDC. The website is www.cityoffullerton.com/coronavirus. As this health situation continues to evolve, the above website will primarily be used to transmit information and public education and ask that the public use official agencies, such as OC Health Care Agency (www.ochealthinfo.com) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (www.cdc.gov) for their informational purposes.

Public advisories include following the basic elements as recommended by the CDC. Those hygiene standards include:
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • Avoid touching face (eyes, nose, and mouth) with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick, in particular if you have a fever.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw it in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Follow the CDC's recommendations for using a facemask.
    • CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including Coronavirus.
    • Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms to help prevent the spread of the disease.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
  • For information about handwashing, see the CDC's Handwashing website.
Please see the following additional resources and communications which may provide further information and answers to your questions.
Again, the health and safety of our fellow communities are our top priority and we're committed to doing our part to help keep you safe.
