Fullerton Rangers Activities Update

Dear Rangers Families,

In a time when so many people are experiencing so many struggles, I hope this email finds you safe, well, and content.

I remember vividly where I was when I first heard that our country was shutting down indefinitely in order to secure ourselves from the Coronavirus. It was a confusing time full of doubts, what ifs, and unknowns.

Our club has worked tirelessly over the last 17 weeks to try to find a way to bring back some form of normalcy for kids and their families. Our hope was to help kids rediscover what it is to be part of a team, to humbly succeed, to gracefully lose, and ultimately to be a better version of themselves. We believe that all of these are valuable life long lessons that benefit kids far beyond the boundaries of the soccer field.

However, in spite of the measures we have taken, there isn’t much more clarity in our country.  In fact, the recent surge in cases both in our nation and in our county have resulted in the postponement and cancellation of numerous indoor and outdoor activities in our area.

Unfortunately, our organization is one of those that are forced to postpone all operating activities for the foreseeable future. We hope that our nation and state can work to remedy our current condition and that activities will open up again soon. Rest assured that when things do open up, The Fullerton Rangers will be there to provide your family with an opportunity to regain some form or normalcy and humanity that we all so desperately need.

What this means for you:

  • If you signed up to play soccer through our organization for the fall, you will not be charged.
  • We will communicate with you any updates we have and let you know if a season can happen.

We want to thank you for your interest and support of local youth sports. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you and your family soon.

If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please feel free to email bod20@fullertonrangers.com.

Subject: Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The health and safety of our community is our highest priority. As we are all well aware, the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, continues to spread and while there are limited, identi fied cases in Orange County as of this date, there is much news and rightful concern. Local cities, including its Police and Fire Departments, adhere to policies and guidance from the Orange County Health Care Agency, as the lead agency, as well as the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Altogether, the federal, state, and county health care agencies are providing daily information about COVID-19. We urge members to continue relying upon these recommendations and the professional expertise of the various health agencies during this health emergency.

At this time, no Fullerton city events, programs, or services are interrupted due to COVID-19 concerns. However, the city will continue to monitor the overall situation and make the appropriate decision regarding each event, program, or service to ensure the health and safety of participants.

At City Hall and City facilities, Staff have been directed to increase the frequency of sanitizing public counters and areas of frequent public contact (i.e., door handles, elevator buttons). This also includes an increase in the cleaning of City facilities such as restrooms at parks and sports fields. Signage is being developed to stress the important of increased hygiene which will be posted at all public facilities and as a way to help educate the public on COVID-19 and best health practices.

Fullerton city has created a specific web page for information that is based off factual information and guidance from the Orange County Health Care Agency and CDC. The website is www.cityoffullerton.com/coronavirus. As this health situation continues to evolve, the above website will primarily be used to transmit information and public education and ask that the public use official agencies, such as OC Health Care Agency (www.ochealthinfo.com) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (www.cdc.gov) for their informational purposes.

Public advisories include following the basic elements as recommended by the CDC. Those hygiene standards include:
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • Avoid touching face (eyes, nose, and mouth) with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick, in particular if you have a fever.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw it in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Follow the CDC's recommendations for using a facemask.
    • CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including Coronavirus.
    • Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms to help prevent the spread of the disease.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
  • For information about handwashing, see the CDC's Handwashing website.
Please see the following additional resources and communications which may provide further information and answers to your questions.
Again, the health and safety of our fellow communities are our top priority and we're committed to doing our part to help keep you safe.

Sincerely,

Fullerton Rangers Board of Directors

2020 Fall Head Coaches Search

To prospective team administrators,

I hope that as you read this, you are safe and well. The last three months have altered many aspects of our lives and I hope that you have found successful ways to get through these months and make them successful.

As many of your experienced, we had to end our spring soccer abruptly, but we are anticipating having a fall season with some modifications. You can review these modifications on our website.

As you all know, our league is dependent on your support as a volunteer. Without your willingness to volunteer as a Head Coach, it is impossible for us to have a season. This fall, in an effort to appreciate the time and effort you invest in our community, we have introduced a Head Coach incentive program. We will provide each approved Head Coach a $50 registration refund after the completion of our fall season. Previous Asst. Coaches and Team Parents are encouraged to apply as a Head Coach.

Just a reminder that late registration will begin in 4 weeks (7/4)! After that, a $30 late registration fee is added and possible wait-listed for team assignments.

There are some revisions to the application process and training requirements. See below.

  • Head Coach
  • Assistant Coach
    • If you are planning to be an Assistant Coach to a Head Coach, the Head Coach must provide a freeze form with your child in top position (U8+ only). Head Coach to notify help@ desk upon submission of freeze form.
  • Freezes/Requests
    • For ages 2013- 2016:
      • We will do our best to honor coach or player requests. Coach requests or player requests should be sent to help@fullertonrangers.com prior to the start of late registration. To ensure that your request is met, please make sure that both parties involved in the request (coach + parent or parent + other parent) are all copied on the email request after both players have completed registration.
      • Hi, my name is _____ and my child’s name is _____. I would like to request that my child play with _____ for the 2020 Fall Season. The parent/coach is copied on this email for reference.
    • For ages 2009-2012:
      • A player (who is/will not be frozen to a coach) is permitted to request 1 other player (who is/will not also be frozen to a coach) for carpool, friendship, etc. This request must be mutual and cannot involve a player frozen to a coach. Any player later frozen by a coach will nullify the original request to a player without notice from the league. To ensure that your request is met, please make sure that both parties involved in the request (parent + other parent) are all copied on the email request after both players have completed registration. Player requests should be sent to help@fullertonrangers.com prior to the start of late registration.
      • A player is not permitted to request a coach, only frozen by a coach.
      • Hi, my name is _____ and my child’s name is _____. I would like to request that my child play with _____ for the 2020 Fall Season. The parent is copied on this email for reference.
    • For ages 2002-2008:
      • A player is not permitted to request a player or a coach, only frozen by a coach. Divisions are formed through an open draft by coaches.
    • Coach freezes:
      • Birth years 2011-2013:
        • Coaches are permitted to freeze 3 players to their team per player freeze document.  This must be signed and submitted to help@fullertonrangers.com prior to the start of late registration.
      • Birth years 2002-2010:
        • Coaches are permitted to freeze 4 players to their team per player freeze document.  This must be signed and submitted to help@fullertonrangers.com prior to the start of late registration.
    • Effective the start of late registration, there shall be no transfer of recreational players for transportation, after school activities, or any other conflicts with practice and/or games.

Player requests – refer to the age matrix for player division placement (2020-2021) based on year of birth. Each season division formation between U5-U10 is not determined until the week following the start of late registration and is primarily based on the quantity of each gender and birth year.

If we are unable to form 6 teams within a single age group, they are combined with a lower/higher division (within the same format; i.e. 4v4, 7v7). Be careful not to promote requests from a single age group or from prior season as generally they split apart (last Fall & current Spring U6 for example U6 moves to U7 which can be combined with U8 while U5 moves to U6). In addition, U9+ divisions are formed with a balance to player ratings. Only freezes are guaranteed.

Thank you and we look forward to our 55th season of Fullerton Rangers soccer!

Fall Soccer Registration Now Closed

Fall Soccer Registration is now closed. Thank you to all who have registered.

Currently the fall season is postponed effective 7/9/20, per the activities update announcement. In reference to the website registration information page: “You will be required to fill out payment information, which will authorize the transaction only for 1-2 business days. We will not capture payments until July 10, once the season is confirmed. A 2 day minimum notice will be emailed prior to capturing payment.”. With the most recent announcement, the capture date is undetermined at this time and we will communicate as necessary should authorization to ‘return-to-play’ be announced timely to continue preparations and scheduling of the fall season. In the event the fall season is not authorized to 'return-to-play' timely, applications and open payments will be cancelled with proper notice.

The coach your child is assigned to will contact you via email or phone by the end of the first full week of August. If you have not heard from your coach by then, please email help@fullertonrangers.com.

Please make sure to check the website for updates or changes to the schedule and/or fields.

Players that we are unable to place on a team will be refunded 100%.

All refund requests must be submitted in writing and received by June 15th for a 100% refund, or by August 15th for a 50% refund. No refunds after August 15th. **Refunds subject to a $10.00 convenience fee.

  • No prior soccer playing experience is required. We foster a positive experience for boys and girls interested in meeting new friends, learning about the game of soccer and having fun!

  • The season kicks-off in August with practices 1-2 times per week (M/W or Tu/Th) and games start the first Saturday after Labor Day in September (may be some night and/or Sunday games).

  • This is a great opportunity for parents to volunteer as coaches and to provide team support while spending time with your children and their friends. No prior soccer coaching experience is required. Other opportunities to volunteer are available throughout the soccer club.

For more information, check our F.A.Q. page.

Spring Soccer registration will begin January 1, 2021, $75.00 for players in Division U12 and below. Players who were born between 2007 and 2016 may register. Spring soccer is our informal season with no regular team practices. Practices are replaced with Soccer Skills Development Clinic sessions held on approximately four (4) Friday evenings. Soccer Skills Development Clinic details will be posted by February. Games are held on Sunday's after 12noon on full size fields. Spring Opening Day will be held 2/21, first game 2/28, last game 5/2. For more details, make sure to check our F.A.Q. page and/or Handbook.

Signature Tryouts

Dear Signature Families,

The Fullerton Rangers are a unique soccer organization because we offer three distinctly different levels of play for our community. These options allow us to provide you and your children with a soccer experience that fits your lifestyle and values. As we move into the summer and towards the end of Recreational registration, it appears that we will not be able to offer one of those options (our signature program) FOR THIS FALL ONLY.

We had prepared to field over 15 teams compete in the Cal South Signature League, but the pandemic has made the likelihood of this uncertain as our governing body has had difficulties figuring out ways to navigate the logistics of the league. They are unable to provide any indication that a league is likely, or even possible, to occur this season, and they do not have a timetable for when they could have an answer to this.

As our Rec registration comes to a close, I wanted to make sure that everyone that was interested in our Signature program knows that if they want to play soccer in the fall, they should either sign up for our Recreational Program using this link http://fullertonrangers.com/recreational/articles/fall-soccer-registration-2020 or register to try out for one of our competitive teams using this link http://fullertonrangers.com/competitive/tryouts, as those appear to be the only two viable options that we can offer. The deadline to register on time for our Recreational league is July 3rd. Our late registration goes until July 10th but includes an additional fee and players are considered on the waitlist.

As the Signature Chair, I am proud of the success that we have had in this program, and I want you to know that we will continue to field signature teams in future seasons.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to signature@fullertonrangers.com and ask. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

We are looking forward to another successful season.
